Thursday Sub Day

Hey folks!

Thanks in advance for being awesome.  I have a small activity for you to do by yourselves, and then the remaining time is yours to be productive.

Please, no games.  If you need to go to your locker to get additional materials, just ask the sub.

Today:

One of the key questions when reading Macbeth is a real world one.  When does ambition become unethical? We started to talk about this in our last class when I asked if you'd give up the person closest to you if they stood between you and success.

Here are three articles where this very issue happened.

Articles:
Thomas Edison: http://www.historicmysteries.com/did-thomas-edison-steal-inventions/
Lance Armstrong: http://healthland.time.com/2012/08/24/which-drugs-is-lance-armstrong-accused-of-taking/
Mark Zuckerberg: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/16/people-mark-zuckerberg-burned_n_1518702.html

Task:
  • Write a 300-350 word response reflecting on the question: When does ambition becomes unethical?
  • This is an open-ended question and will have many different answers.
  • Use information from at least one article for support (more if you need it).
  • You may also use information from your own experiences and Macbeth.
  • Strong reflections will go beyond just "unethical is when someone is killed." Instead, try to explore the situations and emotions that would have lead to that type of situation.
  • Save as "Unethical ambition" in your google name folder.
Did you read all the way down here...?  Good job!  Quiz on April 1 (no joke!) over Act 2 & 3 and Act 2 & 3 vocabulary :) Mark your calendars!
